Women and Girls: when care becomes collective, everyone’s life improves
We’re delighted to introduce ILC Voices. It's a new space for the members of Impact London Collective to share what they are thinking, learning, questioning and imagining about the issues that matter to us.
At its heart, ILC has always been about more than philanthropy. It is about individuals coming together to use our influence, resources, relationships and ideas to create change - for women and girls, and for the wider systems and communities in which we live.
ILC Voices is an extension of that spirit.
Over the coming year, a small group of ILC members will share personal and professional reflections on philanthropy, policy and advocacy, gender equity, collective giving, leadership, organisational capacity and social impact. We want these pieces to make you pause, think differently, feel something, and perhaps start a conversation.
We’ll hear different perspectives on the why and how of supporting women and girls: from building authentic and durable capacity and voices within organisations and leaders, to the possibilities of collective philanthropy as a force for systems change.
We’ll consider what it means to support organisations not simply to survive, but to build the power and capacity to shape change over the long term. And we’ll explore the unexpected places where philanthropy, creativity and advocacy meet - including the idea that art can be a form of advocacy, and that telling stories can itself be an act of change.
Most importantly, ILC Voices is about people. The experiences that brought us here. The questions we are wrestling with. The individuals and communities who have shaped our thinking. And the different ways we each understand our responsibility to contribute.
We’re particularly excited that Fancy Sinantha will be joining us as the Founding Editor of ILC Voices. Fancy brings a rare combination of experience across philanthropy, social impact, leadership and systems change - alongside a deep personal commitment to equity and the power of women and girls.
“ILC Voices is an invitation to slow down and listen - to the stories, experiences and ideas of women who are shaping change in their communities and beyond. I’m interested in what happens when we bring philanthropy closer to people: when we move beyond transactions and into relationships, courage, creativity and collective action. For me, this is ultimately about what becomes possible when women come together with love, resources and imagination, for generations.” - Fancy Sinantha, Founding Editor, ILC Voices
Fancy will shape the editorial direction of ILC Voices and, most importantly, create a space where our collective thinking can be generous, curious, challenging and human.
We hope you’ll read it, share it, disagree with it, respond to it - and perhaps see something of your own experience in it.
Because the most interesting conversations rarely begin with having all the answers.
They begin with the courage to listen, be curious and willingness to act together.
Warmly,
Erica and Lani, Co-Founders
